Behind the writing

How I
work

A good conversation gives you plenty to work with. The job is deciding which idea deserves an article, then writing it in a way that feels right for the people reading it.

01

Get to know the voice

I spend time with the client's articles, website, newsletters, and podcast to understand how they communicate. An executive coach shouldn't sound like a creative business owner.

02

Find the story

I review the episode or transcript and find the question, example, or insight worth giving more attention. If your team has a brief, I can work from that instead.

03

Write for the format

The article, email, and social posts each have their own purpose. They should connect to the same conversation without repeating the same copy.

04

Work with your team

I send the agreed writing for review, make revisions, and fit into your existing workflow. Agencies can bring me in for one assignment or recurring support.

The person behind the writing

Hello,
I'm Elle.

I'm Elle Mills, an editorial writer and the creator of Out of Edits, where I publish interviews and stories about women making changes in their lives.

I know how much work goes into a good podcast conversation. I also know there are stories inside those recordings that deserve to reach people who may never press play.

I work with individual podcast hosts and with agencies that need a writer they can bring into their existing process.
